GETTING PAST IMPASSE

DESCRIPTION:
A broad definition of the term IMPASSE includes the concept of being at a point that is impossible to pass. To move beyond impasse, parties must examine their mental models that have them locked in positions that prompt intended or unintended consequences. This intensive professional development seminar provides tools and techniques for helping people to get beyond impasses.

OBJECTIVES:
As a result of attending this intensive professional development seminar, participants will be able to:
• Help others identify win-win impasse points
• Identify workable approaches to help others become more aware of their mental models and self-defeating behaviors
• Teach and provide skill application of the following techniques
   - Impasse Charting
   - PODS (Points of Departure)
   - Relational Listening
   - Left Column Analysis
   - Appreciative Inquiry
   _ Apply a decision based forgiveness model for moving through
impasse toward positive relationship building
   _ Assist parties in setting BIG (“Beyond Impasse Goals”)

LENGTH of Seminar: 2 days
